Perfection: The Unreasonable Goal
Sponsored by CrisDental Eugene
Okay, you woke up this morning with a food hangover.
You know, that last beer, the extra helping of stuffing, perhaps you should not have put so much whipped cream on your pumpkin pie.
Lighten up bro, it’s the day after a holiday that celebrates abundance and you celebrated well.
Lots of folks feel guilty the morning after.
No need to feel bad, just start over.
If you base your health off social media you will never reach the goal.
Dudes and women, who starve themselves for weeks, shoot a bunch of pictures of their perfect abs and butts, flood the internet.
Once their pictures are shot, they go back to looking like you and I until the next photo shoot. LOL
Truth is, those people don’t look like that all the time and neither will you.
The human body has to be starved to keep that look and none of us need live in a state of constant hunger.
The basic’s of staying in shape or staying leanish is all about calories in and calories out.
I’m not a guy who tracks mine with a monitor or calculator each day, I don’t care that much. Way too much work.
But if that helps you stay within your goals, by all means do it.
Find what works for you and stick with it.
The last year I have increased my protein intake.
I try to get close to my body weight in protein each day.
For me that’s about 180 grams a day.
As we age building muscle and keeping what we have is super important.
Not only do we look better, we burn more fat. Muscle burns fat.
It’s impossible to get enough protein in most diets with out supplementation of protein powder so I take that first thing in the morning. (50 Grams)
I also supplement with creatine and recently upped my dose of that after listening to a podcast about the importance of creatine and brain power. (I need all I can get).
I also drink a protein shake after my workout.
The other thing I do is collagen protein which helps with skin, hair and nails. I don’t really give a damn about my nails but hair and skin…you bet. No one wants to look their age and hair, well you know I have a thing for my hair (lol).
By far the best thing we can do for our outlook and our health is exercise. You don’t have to run a marathon each day but at least get out and walk. The latest research shows walking is a great way to lose weight and to keep your mind sharp.
Add weights to your workout.
Join a gym and meet some likeminded people, that also helps keep you accountable.
Lastly, don’t make having a six pack the ultimate goal.
Peace of mind follows a healthy lifestyle and that’s what we should all be looking for.
