The Ugly Side of War

I wake up each day, scroll through my news feeds, and think to myself, how much of what I’m reading is just propaganda?
As a former Journalist, that’s just part of how I operate, but this war, or whatever some of you want to call it, started, my level of skepticism has skyrocketed.
I lost my trust in the liberal messaging during COVID.
I won’t go into that right now.
But the level of propaganda oozing out of the conservative camps is becoming too much to bear.
I used to listen to the radio commentary on the way to and from Helena.
I won’t mention names, but I stopped.
They sound like mouthpieces for the message.
They have become puppets for the puppeteer.
They are too close to the president, which is why true news people need to keep their distance.
These are not journalist, they don’t claim to be, but the cheerleading is getting old, and their message doesn’t line up with the facts.
I have a few places I can still go, with people who question everything.
I find I’m not the only one with such concerns.
Many of you help as well with your critical thinking and interesting points of view.
When you start to question, not just the narrative, but yourself, you know you’re in a good place.
The hard part is that uncertainty puts us on edge.
We notice people at the store or folks online, even, seem a bit off the edge.
When we get uncomfortable, our finger doesn’t leave the trigger, and we are easily coerced into rapid action.
It becomes clearer to me every day that this is a war, a battle, or a “little excursion” of epic proportions.
We witness it playing out in the physical realm, but the real fight is taking place in the spiritual realm, where darkness is operating at full potential.
No leader, no party, no ideology is going to save us.
If we start to lean on their understanding, we’re in big trouble.
A line from the Bible comes to mind. “This too shall pass.”
Oh, and “Do not lean on your own understanding.”
But do not lean on theirs either.
Trust only the one who holds the key, God.
Hang on, we’re in for a rough ride.
