Natural Consequences

A World of Natural Consequences

We live in a world of naturally occurring consequences.

I was thinking about this yesterday while hiking 9 miles up 2k feet into a canyon six miles from Yellowstone National Park.

You understand the risks, take bear spray and a gun, and keep your eyes open.

Nature is unforgiving, and if something goes wrong by putting yourself in danger, it is on you, not nature.

With nature fancy works and twisting the truth won’t save you.

We live in a world that tries to remove those consequences and put the blame on others.

To the practical people, those who live in reality and the land of common sense, it is understood.

But to those consumed with a victim mindset, deflection gives them a false sense of importance and a mountain of excuses so that blame can be shifted.

The reality dwellers see a cliff and stand back.

They understand the edge and push limits, but common sense tells them when to back off.

They don’t put themselves in danger because they understand the potential cost isn’t worth it.

Beware of those who experience loss and try to make common sense the enemy.

In order to skirt the truth, they try to make what is common sense anything but common.

You are not crazy.

The truth isn’t something personal but universal, and those who bend it are the people living in the land of out of touch.

Do not rejoice in their folly because all have the potential to be misled.

But don’t cozy up with their virtue signaling either.

Stand clear.

Stand up.

But don’t stand down.
