Fret Not Thyself

Fret Not Thyself

There seems to be a million things grabbing our attention.

There was a time we could ignore it, but those days are long gone.

How does one stay engaged but not allow involvement to create too much friction in our own lives?

As we move deeper into the abyss, the battle to stay connected grows more difficult.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed and underprepared.

My friends, that’s when our engine light is on, warning us to Lube Up.

For those of us with faith in God, the lubricant of life is the word of God.

We need to be a finely oiled machine to withstand the friction purposely created by evil-doers.

We must understand that the enemy of our souls uses people to do his dirty work, and the goal is to destroy us.

Friction and fretfulness are closely related.

In the devotional I read each morning, “Streams In The Desert,” it talks about how if an axle fails, it’s usually because its bearings are not being properly lubricated.

Too much friction causes bearings to overheat.

You and I are the same.

If we worry, we actually create friction and give the enemy a way in.

Friction is also caused when a little bit of grit gets inside the workings of these bearings.

For you and me, that might be a nasty email, a rude comment on social media, a disappointment, another tyrannical move by evil rulers, and so on.

Any of these things can gum up the smooth working of our lives.

We must protect these “bearings” at all costs.

Do not become restless, fretful.

When you hear the same “digs” over and over, remind yourself that the enemy of our souls uses just a bit of truth to create a total lie.

He knows our weaknesses better than we do and uses the lips, words, and comments from others to dry up that valuable holy oil, so we will worry.

This is a good reminder to me that when I start to heat up, my pearls of wisdom do not need to be tossed to swine, and when I’m feeling that anger, I need to stand back and lube up. What I’m trying to say is be still and know that He alone is God.

The worries of the world will get worse, but at the same time, as those evil-doers push harder, you and I will understand our need for holy oil.

When the pressure to silence us increases, remember: if we stay focused, we can ignore it, keep going, smile, and remind ourselves who we work for.

Have a great Sunday.

Lube up.
