The Noise of Oppression

A storm falls upon our nation.
Chaos erupts in the streets of our cities and small towns.
We find ourselves at odds with our neighbors, even our extended families.
To us, it makes no sense.
The puppet master pulls his strings.
Society dances uncontrollably as it follows each tug of the string, making movements that cause us to scratch our heads in wonder.
Words no longer have meaning.
Accusations abound.
Proof is no longer needed to make a claim.
Tell a lie long enough, to some, it tickles their ears and magically becomes fact.
Repetition is like an intoxicant, dumbing logic, as it caresses the emotional center.
The ship we find ourselves on is sinking.
But half the passengers ignore the warning.
Instead of bailing the surging sea out of the sinking ship, these passengers put more holes in the bow, thinking, for some reason, their actions will save the ship.
Job: 34:29 “He Giveth Quietness”
Our souls thirst for calm.
A young man from my gym asked if we could meet face-to-face.
Like many in their early 30’s, the craziness of the world confuses them, as it does the rest of us.
We sat there for two hours bouncing ideas off one another.
As we engaged in matters of the spirit, the violence and turmoil of the world outside disappeared.
For the first time in many moons, God gave me visions of clarity for this young man and for me.
When Christ is invited onto the boat, He raises his hand and says, “Peace be still.”
Nature, demons, and every soul are silenced.
They open their mouths, but all that comes out is distorted, garbled noise.
There is a fine line between engagement and allowing the world to consume you.
If we allow the noise of evil to rob us of our peace, evil will eat away at our joy.
In doing so, we give away our superpower, God’s peace.
God showed me many things in that conversation yesterday.
I need more face-to-face interaction with good people and less torment from the underworld.
When we spend too much time with rotten things, our peace, our soul, and our nature are endangered.
Filter what is diseased.
Erradicate what unleavens our lives.
Stay engaged just enough to fulfill your calling.
Hold onto God’s peace that goes beyond understanding, and be still and know that He is God.
