National Shutdown? No Thanks

National Shutdown?

A lot of you are sending me information on this so-called “National Shutdown” movement to protest ICE.

I’m a big supporter of people who want to protest when things aren’t going their way.

Does it work? No

It makes the protesters feel like they are doing something, but in terms of impacting the lives of everyday people, the answer is no.

Do not stand in their way.

I wouldn’t show up at an actual protest.

But if you want to do a counter protest, go for it.

Go to work today.

Send your kids to school just like any other day.

Do that Costco run or your grocery shopping for the next month.

Stand up for ICE, and its attempt to clear our nation of criminals who are illegally living in our country.

Or option three, do nothing.

Just go on living your life as if it were a normal Friday in January, because it is.

My friends, these folks are not our enemies, even though they consider us to be theirs.

They don’t own the conversation.

They can’t intimidate us.

Some can and will try to make us the bad guys, but you and I have the right to disagree with them, and we will.

We are not bad; our beliefs are not wrong, we see their logic, or lack thereof, and scratch our heads.

Those are not reasons to shut down.

But we will not stoop to lawlessness.

We will not destroy private or public property with our anger.

You will not find us interrupting and terrorizing people in their places of worship, no matter what they believe in or whom they follow.

This is still America, where laws and respect for disagreement live on.

National Shutdown day?

No, thank you.

I’ll be heading to the gym, having fun with friends, doing the Costco run, and meeting up with a buddy whose having a tough time right now.

Trump and Uncle Chuck seem to have avoided a government shutdown, so, no thank you, today is not national shutdown day for me.
