Where's Your Trust?

Where’s Your Trust?

I wonder if God isn’t showing us that our trust in man, a man, a party, or an ideology, is misguided.
We are so easily drawn into the flame of chaos when times get rough.
We forget people in power are easily misled, yet we follow them anyway.
This war with Iran is a wake-up call for some of us.
We allowed ourselves to be lured into the false sense of hope.
Lofty words and actual change in direction made us more susceptible.
We did what history warned us not to do, but we did it anyway.
The weakness was born in the aftermath of the COVID debacle.
I saw what society was capable of when fear took over, and questions dried up.
Culture, like sheep, climbed inside the fence of false promises and fake safety.
People stopped thinking rationally and instead lined up to play “follow the leader.”
It’s hard to forget when someone lies to us.
Someone can misspeak or give us bad guidance, and we can forgive.
But when you lie to people, trust is not easily regained.
Once that bond is broken, the words that slip off the tongue have a funny taste.
There’s a sourness that also drips like honey, that is not easily swallowed and gags us to the point of recoil.
It’s as if something in the spiritual realm pops the eardrums, clears the hearing canal, and forever changes the noise coming from those telling the lies.
Humans are fallible.
We all sin.
We probably expect too much from those we put into leadership.
That’s our fault.
I’m reading Psalms 37:5 “And He shall bring it to pass.”
The “He” David speaks of is not the rulers of the time.
David is speaking of God, our Heavenly Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ.
Maybe God is allowing us to enter the land of chaos as a way of restoring our trust in Him.
As a nation, we put far too much trust in elected leaders and the promises they are bound to break.
We follow a system, a party, a platform that sounds good but in the end is nothing more than hollow words and empty promises that are easily broken.
Spiritual forces cannot work while earthly forces are active.
I’m rethinking my focus.
It is not a time to retreat, but it is also not a time to double down.
Stay informed, but remember, man or his plan will not save us.
Filter the words from the noise.
And, most importantly, be still and remind yourself who is truly worthy of our trust.
