We Each Have Our Own Lion

We Each Have Our Lion.

When a young King David was but a shepherd, his opportunity for greatness came in the form of a lion.
But that was just the start.
Then, it was a bear, and finally, the mighty Goliath.
It didn’t matter that he was outmatched in all three instances; God had a plan for His life, and David had the heart to trust and follow through.
God is big on providing disguised opportunities.
He picks imperfect people because that’s what He has to work with, and exposes their ability.
While man looks at the resume, God looks at our heart.
Every temptation that comes is an opportunity.
Like you and me, David, loved by God, also did some horrible things.
He was an adulterer, a murderer, and a manipulator.
Can you imagine how the media would cover his story?
The David story is perfect for this place and time we find ourselves in.
It seems the masses look for perfection in our leaders, while God judges the heart.
Men, disconnected from their creator, fail to see the heart of people; all they recognize is their own sin in those they hate.
When your lion comes, don’t cower or hide; remind yourself this is your moment.
I think it’s fair to expect the best out of our leaders today.
This is not an excuse for authoritarian leadership.
But we must check the baggage of the harshest critics.
Oftentimes, they are so bogged down with their own past that they can’t see clearly.
Tonight, as the President offers his State of the Union address, the posturing will be as thick as mud, and the slinger will use every word to discredit in their attempt to build up their own position.
Remind yourself, these are just men and women fighting their own demons/lions.
It’s not an excuse for bad behavior, but the only way I can be somewhat Christlike and less judgmental as I watch desperation and manipulation play out on the world stage.
We each have our own lion.
