We Can't See The Big Picture

We Can’t See the Big Picture

ree

One of the most frustrating parts of being human is our lack of a big-picture vision.

We see what’s in front of us and assume we understand the next move.

Kathy and I rode our mountain bikes 2,200 feet up into a gulch not far from where we live.

On the way up, you can see where you are headed.

If you focus on how far it is, you will never reach the top.

As you climb, you take each moment as a segment.

There’s a corner ahead, and I can make it that far.

As soon as you do, you set another goal.

A rider never looks too far ahead, just in segments of what can be done.

There are moments when the road gets steep, but you make a pact with yourself not to stop.

Stopping is not an option.

When you reach the top and look down, you see how far you’ve come.

In the back of your mind, you wonder how you did it.

Step by step is the only answer.

My walk with God is the same.

When I was younger and more easily swayed, everything seemed like the right path.

As I linger longer in my faith, answers are less clear, and direction becomes more long-term.

Experience gives us a longer vision based on faith, not emotion.

As we look at what’s happening in our nation right now, I find myself smiling much more.

Oh, there is so much corruption in both parties; power does that to people.

If you do the research, you will find many cover-ups and obscene abuses of power against the American people.

But left, right, and those in the middle or on the fringe are finding their place on the narrow road to the truth.

We see so much fear, fear that pushes people to take the wider path because wide seems safer.

Wide is easy and filled with lies.

I watch from my former home state of Oregon, where decades of numbing the electorate is now backfiring.

People who not long ago ignored warning signs are now speaking out to bring back common sense to a place riddled with foolish ideas.

We can’t see the big picture, but I know God is refining our vision.

He is turning up the heat on liars, deceivers, and manipulators.

This isn’t a battle between left and right; it’s simply a struggle between right and wrong.

There is no more riding the fence.

You are either seeking THE TRUTH or allowing EVIL to destroy us.

Let God handle the big picture; all we need to do is follow His lead, love those we can, and pray for those who TRY to deceive us.
