Vulnerability Key

Vulnerability Might Be The Answer

Last night on our podcast, a man I had never met before joined me for a conversation about real life.

There were no politics involved.

No programs to sell.

There is something about people who’ve been to the bottom and found their way to the top that is so refreshing, so real.

Brian is as real as it gets.

My whole life, people like Brian intrigue me.

Maybe it’s because I lived most of my life in the public eye, on display, with all the fakery and polish of the news business.

Brian got addicted to meth at age 7.

He lived on the street.

Did things he’s ashamed of, but Brian found his way out and now helps others on the road to recovery.

Brian, and others I know, are willing to be vulnerable.

I think that’s the key to moving past your history and discovering who you truly are.

He said something that touched me deeply.

If only our world could sit down and have a heart-to-heart conversation with each other.

Expose the vulnerabilities of being human, without the need to be right.

It’s a lofty goal.

My ideological nature shows when I see such things.

But I think Brian is onto something.

We may not need another “expert” to explain things to us.

We need to listen to the recovery community and let them guide us back to a place, pre-COVID.

After spending 30 minutes listening and conversing with Brian, I felt like the world was a better place.

I felt like I was a better man.

I’m not done with this whole idea.

I think there’s an answer in here somewhere, and I’m willing to keep listening until we find it.

I will post a link in the comment section to the interview with Brian.

He’s about 30 minutes into the show.
