The Great Harvest

The Great Harvest: The Difference Between Common Sense and Nonsense.`

ree

The great harvest is underway.

Farmers work all spring and summer for this moment.

Part of a great harvest is the inevitable death of something.

Tree leaves turn.

In death, they show their most vibrant colors.

ree

We visited a pumpkin patch near Portland.

I talked with the owner about his place.

Told me something I think you’ll find refreshing.

Many farms now charge $10 or $20 to get onto the property.

Not him.

He says people can’t afford that, so that will never happen.

That’s an Oregonian.

ree

Our Fall season this year comes complete with our first grandchild, Niko.

Niko is growing our hearts in all kinds of new directions.

Once important things, we find no room for anymore.

ree

The Chen family, his other side of the family, is the best.

They bring new culture, new blessings, and kindness into our lives.

It’s all part of that harvest we keep talking about.

ree

I love the whole Fall thing.

In order for new things to grow in our lives, we must allow the death of others.

Little plans and big plans change when you have a grandchild.

My life is one death after another.

Niko represents what is to come and is part of the future harvest of my life.

ree

As Kathy and I head for our home in Montana, we will miss Niko and his parents so much.

There were a few tears last night as we said goodbye.

Five weeks is a long time to be together, and we will miss them a lot.

We’ve grown attached to the little guy.

I have mixed feelings as I leave Oregon this time.

I see something culturally dying in this state, something that has needed to change for a long time.

We saw many strangers on this trip who follow us online and agree with the things we talk about.

They desperately want change, and I think if you, the people of Oregon, continue to stand strong, you will bring Oregon back to its former luster.

Life is not meant to be lived in isolation.

Life is supposed to be lived freely.

Oregon’s harvest is coming.

A few more things still must pass away first.

But the process is moving quickly; now is not the time to stop.

Follow our pages and please, comment as much as you like.

I am not your voice but simply a platform for you to speak.

It’s a place where you and I can decide for ourselves the difference between common sense and nonsense.

Winter is for allowing the bugs and growth inhibitors to die, so in the Spring, new growth can flourish.

ree

Here’s to a new season.

Here’s to embracing death, understanding that it is the only way for change to follow.
