The Fence Riders

The Fence Riders

I remember living in Eugene,Oregon, working as a television reporter and spending a lot of time living on the fence.

Back then, Journalists had to be fair and couldn’t show bias.

We couldn’t take a position because our job was to serve the public and bring them fair and balanced information.

Politically I was always opinionated but kept those things to myself, family and trusted friends.

Now we live in a world where public employees, school superintendents, city leaders, managers of public positions, journalists, have no problem breaking that code and slathering us with their political opinions.

You can’t be a school superintendent and take a position against a president. Oh, in your heart and soul you can, but the minute you put that out to your staff or the public, you’ve broken and ethical code because bottomline “You represent a whole lot of people who don’t agree with you and they pay your salary.”

The problem seems to be, people are numb to the truth, feel what’s happening is wrong but say or do little to bring it to public light.

That’s starting to change.

I know people who post things about division and coming together and it all sounds good. I really wish that were possible right now but oil and water don’t mix. Truth and lies don’t co-mingle.

The hard part about the birthing of truth is as it begins to surface the messaging and manipulation (Liars) pushes harder.

In the story of one of histories greatest leaders, when He really began to expose the lies of leaders and the manipulation pushed on the common man, the evil forces road Him like an ox for 40 days.

He didn’t budge, not once.

As I’ve said many times, I believe we’re in a battle not between party or even policy. Those are symptoms not the real problems. This is a battle boiling in the darkness of Hell, trying to take away our freedom and our ability to stand up for good.

The closer we get to the truth the more evil pushes, prods, and plants its roots even deeper.

A great prophet once said at some point in every battle our souls choose to be either hot or cold. But what is worse than cold is lukewarm. Those are the fence riders, the people who want to play it safe and keep their virtue, so they hide behind slogans about coming together to stay safe.

Over the past few days my email has been flooded with brave people who probably never got involved in the past. Folks from Eugene to Waldport, Montana to Springfield, who see public trust being abused and they are angry enough to get involved. They see the BS and can no longer put up with it. They are doing their homework, using their voice, speaking out, and making a difference.

As you get involved I’ll warn you, evil will find you. You become a threat and evil will do all that it can to shut you up. But remember there is also grace and power in the truth. And in the end evil destroys itself and truth sets you free.
