Recalculating My Calculations

I’m getting ready to head home from an amazing week of meeting new people, seeing some we’d forgotten about, and spending more time in my creator’s playground, the wilderness.
I cracked open a book this morning that advised against calculating your life without considering God.
I try to follow His lead on the big stuff, but dang, I don’t do that anymore on the little things.
You know, the everyday aspects of life?
Oswald Chamber says, “The one thing that keeps us from the possibility of worrying is bringing God in as the greatest factor in all our calculations.”
If I spent more time considering God’s view of every aspect of my life, I’d have no reason to worry.

Life has extreme struggles. I read the messages some of you send me, and it breaks my heart to see the things you are dealing with.
I tend to overthink things.
I know in my head if I gave those things over to God, my life would be filled with an unmatched peacefulness.
However, we do not need to put on our Sunday best to consider God’s involvement in every aspect of our lives.
The line that sticks out the most from Oswald this morning is this one.

“Don’t calculate with the rainy day in view.
“You cannot lay up for a rainy day if you are trusting Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled.” God will not keep your heart from being troubled. It is a command — “Let not.…” Haul yourself up a hundred and one times a day to do it, until you get into the habit of putting God first and calculating with Him in view.”
One last thought.
Our life is a partnership with the creator. (God)
Earthly leaders want to control us so they feel powerful.
God is all-powerful and doesn’t need our attention, but he wants it.
Think about that when you look up at the mountains or hear the sound of a stream in the background.
He made all of it, and we get to enjoy it.
I was officiating a wedding for a friend when he said something so powerful I never forgot it.
He’d been married several times because he married for the wrong reasons.
He said, “The woman I’m about to marry this time wants me; she doesn’t need me.”
I think God is the same way.
He can manage without us, but chooses to include us if we willingly allow Him in, simply because He loves us.
