Pay Attention To Discernment

There’s a lot of screaming going on right now and it’s easy to get caught up in the noise.

So many positive things to celebrate you have to remind yourself to smile, look at the big picture, and stay tuned on but not focused on outcomes.

I was listening to a podcast while running yesterday and the guest was telling the story of Jesus turning over the tables in the temple.

Jesus came to expose the lies of the powerful.

Tyranny was normal at the time, corruption everywhere and the people had grown hopeless.

I see a lot of people promoting the wimpy Jesus, the Jesus they can manufacture to back the truth as they see it.

Yes, Jesus had a compassionate side to Him but he was also a badass.

He turned over those tables in the temple because religious leaders were charging the poor, to buy doves, to sacrifice to God. In other words the church leaders were making money off the poor.

I see this same thing happening in our government, our churches and our civic life.

DOGE is uncovering so much corruption and misuse of our money and who is it hurting? You and me and especially the poor.

Jesus had a burden for the mass’.

The elite hated him and wanted to murder him…oh and eventually did.

He turned the system on them and in doing so, exposed them for their weaknesses and their lies.

What I get from this story is we must fight tyranny at every level.

We must expose the lies, the corruption and the greed that is breaking the back of our nation.

You don’t have to be on the front lines but you can’t be afraid to stand up for the truth or they win.

One other aspect of Christ I want to touch on. He didn’t get into a lot of scraps with people. He knew they were trying to trap Him with words and manipulation, but He was too smart for them.  Instead, when his enemies tried to corner Him, what did He do? He asked them a clarifying question, one they rarely had the answer to.

He spoke in stories, parables, that the average listener didn’t discern right off the bat. Thousands of years later, we see the bigger picture. But his opponents knew He was talking about them.

Discernment is a rare gift these days.

Ask for it. Seek it out with everything you have.

What’s spewed from social media and the legacy folks is designed to confuse.

Without Jesus to define the story, the narrative is just another confusing parable.
