Whisper if You Want Someones Attention.

Some of you tell me how much It means to you that I write my thoughts and ideas in a blog everyday.
Some of you hate it.
I should tell you, I’m so glad it has an impact on your life whether it’s love or hate.
But the real reason I write this stuff down each day is because it’s how I get my thoughts from my head to my heart to my soul.
My mind wanders a lot. When I write it forces me to put down on record what’s going on in my head.
I was listening to a podcast the other day and Shawn Ryan was saying how important it is to be still and listen to what God is telling you.
For those who believe and follow our creator, I think He gives us messages but often times we’re so trapped in our phones or trying to force things to happen in our lives that we miss His still small voice.
I’m sure God could turn up the volume but there’s an old line from a television commercial that went like this…”Whisper if you want to get someone’s attention.” Try it. It really works. If you are in a meeting or talking with a friend, whisper and watch how intense the conversation becomes.
A lot of times we miss the initial whisper or mistake it for an idea that pops into our head.
On a recent trip to Skamania County, Washington, I had one of those moments.
Kathy and I were there shooting an upcoming three part Truth About Timber series on how not managing our forests impacts rural America.
I was visiting with the school superintendent. When I produce stories I’m trying to understand the people not just the issues. She told me about a Lewis & Clark Adventure project the district sponsors for students every other year.
The kids study Lewis & Clark to understand their history, since they now live along the very shores the expedition traveled.
It’s a way to connect the kids and give them a chance to take the adventure of a lifetime.
Students end the year of study by kayaking 132 miles from their home to where Lewis & Clark ended up Astoria Oregon.
Later I was on another interview and in casual conversation mentioned to some locals that this Lewis & Clark Adventure was a great story that the world needed to hear about.
They asked how much would it cost to bring us back here.
I told them.
Tomorrow, Kathy and I fly back to Skamania County to follow the kids for five days and bring you that story.
Here’s the best part, I think there is more to this journey than just a great story.
There’s something deeper going on here that God wants us to understand.
That whisper….that still small voice….God is always working to give us a little nudge…a kiss perhaps….to remind us He’s not finished. Turn the page the story is just about to get really good.
