I’m In This Rick, Be Still.

The world appears to be in freefall.
Much of what’s going on doesn’t add up, makes no sense, and seems too obvious.
Culture is out of step with many Americans, or so it seems to me.
Evil is on a rampage, destroying anything that gets in its way.
People I liked, respected, and paid attention to now sound unhinged, angry, and bitter.
I woke up last night and started to worry about people I love, who are falling for inconsistency.
Why can’t they see their vision is clouded by hate?
Their logic is anything but logical.
We all have blind spots, I get that.
I talk about what I believe, and people disagree.
I’m fine with that.
But the illogical seem dead set against me having an opinion and feel the need to push, proad and pressure me into agreeing with them.
Why?
Give it up.
We aren’t going to agree, and we don’t have to, to get along.
Am I that great a threat to their cause?
If you are so sure of your opinions, why do you need others to join you and see everyone who disagrees as a threat?
As I lay in my bed, telling myself to go back to sleep, a song came to mind.
It’s a tune my mom used to play on our piano on Sunday mornings when I was a kid.
“Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full at His wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, by the light of His glory and grace.”
Next thing I knew, it was 5:30 and time to get up.
As I sit here reading history, I realize that evil walks the earth looking for people to devour.
Unrest is his pitchfork.
Hate the foundation laid to grip, grasp, and gobble up our peace.
While going through a tough time, a friend once told me, “Don’t let them rob you of your peace, Rick.”
Then, I hear a whisper.
It’s my creator saying, “I’m in this, Rick. Be Still.”
