Go With Your Gut

Go With Your Gut

Proverbs 14;12

“There is a way which seems right to a man, But it’s end is the way of death.”

I got a message from someone yesterday.

It came across as caring and concerned, but it also conveyed judgment and misinformation.

The message was sent in a way that made it difficult for me to respond, which tells me everything.

At first, it irritated me.

I don’t even know this guy, and yet, he had the gall to sit in his seat of judgment and pretend to be concerned for my well-being.

But I stepped back, read it more carefully, considered the source, and started to smile.

Have you noticed that when you understand your mission, when you hear your calling, the inflated and deflated words and opinions of others lose their grip?

When you do your homework, listen to not just what’s being said but also consider why it’s being said and how. There’s a power that goes with that, that makes others nervous.

Our culture is weak when it comes to big picture ideas and thinking for ourselves.

It is easier to suck on the teat of popular opinion than it is to sink your teeth into protein to nourish the soul.

People are easily swayed by information that tickles the ears, but circumcizes the soul.

The message makers understand the audience better than we do.

I find people don’t trust their God-given intuition.

Our world likes to call it a “gut feeling.”

I think of it more as a whisper from God.

In the word our lord calls it a “still, small voice.”

Take a moment to be quiet and think about what is going on in the world right now.

Why are those who oppose you so angry?

Why do they lash out?

Does something not add up, but you can’t put your finger on it?

Does it feel right?

Is it okay?

Is it moral?

What would God say?

Silence the noise, ignore the mischief makers, and listen to your gut.
