Frustration Is Our Friend and Your Foe

When you live in a bad situation long enough you get used to it.
You don’t see the problems that are obvious to others.
Rather than search your soul you shut it down.
Oregon needs to recalibrate.
People are frustrated and if you don’t see it, it’s because you aren’t listening.
I was in the locker room at a Springfield gym yesterday when this older gentleman started chatting with me.
He asked me where I stood.
I hesitated because in Oregon, for a guy like me to say where I stand, is sure to raise an eyebrow or two.
I told him I like the way the country is going.
He looked at me and said “me too.”
That started an amazing conversation.
On the outside this man looked like a more liberal person….yes, there is a look.
Oh, and he was a liberal for most of his life but told me the way the Democrats were acting he had to leave the party. (recently)
In his words he is “ashamed” of them.
We talked of how Oregon unfairly tweaked district boundaries to get the upper hand and eventually a super majority.
This guy was angry at his former party because no one likes cheaters.
We talked about mail in elections and wondered if that is also not a problem.
The problem for the Democrats is this man is not alone.
I get emails from many former Democrats who are just done with the party and it’s bullshit.
We laughed about how everything the Democrats accuse the Republicans of doing, they have already done…..and they are blind to it.
The good news is people are done.
If you are one of my hardliner Democrat followers, and I know there are a bunch of you out there, understand fairness still matters to Oregonians.
Kathy and I were here for several days and the number of people who walked up to me and said “Thank you for speaking out, we agree with you”, should scare you.
These weren’t right wing nut jobs they are regular people who are just done with your politics.
What your leaders, especially your governor should understand is, people are ready to walk away from Oregon in droves…..but they won’t instead they are ready to fight.
That’s another thing I heard over and over…..”we wish we could leave, we’re done, we can’t do this anymore” is a message that rings across the state.
The real problem is blindness…..your blindness.
You are so wrapped up in your power and your ideology you can’t see the ground swell that is rising up while you sit on your pedestal looking at your reflection in the mirror.
You believe so strongly that you are right and everyone else is wrong that you will do anything to win.
You think it’s the right way and we’ll come around.
Oregonians are coming around but not to your way of thinking but to a fairness this state was built on and you robbed us of.
I know some of you see what I’m talking about.
You understand the power of the people and when they unite your kingdom is in danger of falling.
We reach 5 plus million views every month and the audience continues to grow.
You want to silence them and me but you pushed to hard.
You cry for democracy and civility out of one side of your mouth while the other side does the exact opposite.
You point fingers but fail to see those pointing back at you.
We don’t need a super majority of either party.
We need fairness and leaders without an agenda.
I often hear folks say “we’ve lost civility in our culture”.
We didn’t lose it.
We gave it away.
The warning is Oregonians are ready to take it back.
