A New Perspective

The house sitters are ready, our bags packed and Kathy’s friend in Bozeman ready to take us to the airport. Okay, actually at the time of this writing Kathy is still re-packing.
We are headed overseas for 22 days. We decided as long as we’re there we might as well make the most of it.
Kathy, my oldest son Jake and Grace have done all the planning of this trip.
Kathy has never been overseas so she’s super excited as am I.
We are going to Nice, Barcelona, Rome, Florence and one night on the way back in Iceland.
This was Jake and Grace’s idea.
I’ve only been to third world countries, when traveling overseas so it will be interesting to see the other Europe.
We have our airbnbs set, our tours lined up and Kathy and I have some biking adventures and we rented these cool three wheeled cars to take us along the beaches.
When I’ve traveled outside America I always come back with a new love of our country. Oh, god I’ll be dangerous right before the election. We really do have the best country in the world but I want to experience the history, a different set of people and be touched by different aspects of God’s creation.
I plan to sip espresso at an Italian cafe, take in the scenery of the French Rivera, and soak in the charm of Florence.
I want to eat authentic Italian food….the pasta, the wine…you know.
We know the trip will be taxing, trips always are.
The flight is tolerable but long.
Kathy found a gym at our five hour layover in Philadelphia so we can get a workout and a shower in before we head to Nice.
We will take you with us, sort of, with pictures and video. It won’t do the scenery justice but it will tempt and taunt you to want to go. I’m sure many of you have already been.
Honestly, I need to get out of our country for a reprieve. The nastiness of the election is getting to me. The nastiness of people depresses me. I need a change of scenery to help me find my ground again. The battle we are in in this country is not against each other it’s a fight between good and evil. This is a battle of the spiritual nature and I believe, and feel free to disagree with me, we are in a fight for the very soul of our nation.
Everything we do in life can change us if we let it.
We are excited to spend the time with Jake and Grace.
When your 37 year old kid says he wants to still vacation with you, you go.
So, let’s get the passports out, bags packed and hope the TSA guy doesn’t need to do the “personal check”.
“Excuse me sir there’s only one thing in that pocket” LOL
We’ll keep you posted.
Here we go.
