Come on, We're Better Than This

Say It Enough, and the lie becomes truth?

I had several emails this morning from people trying to find the truth.
They read headlines, hear stories, and just want to know right from wrong.
I see where the FCC is warning legacy media that it will crack down on these businesses for false narratives.
I’m no fan of the media, but I’m wondering who gets to decide which narrative is right and which one is wrong?
Shouldn’t that be up to us?
I can’t believe I’m sticking up for this group of people responsible for so much misinformation.
But what scares me more is when those I stood shoulder to shoulder with start playing the same game.
We, as a culture, seem to fear confrontation.
We claim debate as healthy, but when the questions get harder, we label and bully the questioners.
Discrediting those who think differently seems to be the thing to do.
How quickly we forget what it was like to live in the bullseye.
What I do know is that time has a way of clearing the air.
Corruption can hide for decades, but eventually rears its ugly fangs.
But ONLY if we question.
Not once, or twice, but over and over again until we get answers.
The right is starting to behave like the left.
Maybe it always did.
I have this crazy idea.
What if we allowed our fellow Americans to question everything?
What if, rather than vilifying those who bring up hard topics, we leave it alone?
We could consider their point of view, or not.
We can question what they believe, but stop with the toxic fear.
We should ask ourselves, why are we so threatened by what they say?
Are we unsure of our own position?
Does something smell like three-day-old fish, but rather than clean up the mess, we spray more air freshener in the room and call it good.
When this is all over, we will probably find our positions or conclusions were not as solid as we thought they were.
The truth will be found somewhere in the middle.
But the damage done by throwing decenters over the cliff doesn’t go away.
Little white lies and propaganda leave a residue that is not easily removed.
Only the truth sets us free.
So let’s go find it and stop the backstabbing.
