Bring Back The Open Mic To America

We Should Not Hesitate

ree

A woman wrote me yesterday questioning my support for Trump.

She’s a Republican, but she has problems with Trump.

I’ve learned after years of living in the public eye not to just answer someone until I know a little about them.

So I checked out her profile.

We have some mutual friends, whom I trust, so I answered her.

We had a civil exchange, found things we agree on and many we still disagree about, but the conversation ended on a great note.

That’s what life in America should be all about.

You and I should be able to express our ideas and opinions without fear of verbal or physical violence.

Kathy and I watched a special about Charlie Kirk last night.

Many of the interviews were equally famous right-of-center journalists.

To hear the stories of death threats they experience, one has to wonder what is going on in our country.

When did violence become a solution to disagreement for so many?

My personal assessment is this.

For decades, the left has owned the conversation.

I remember, back in Oregon, one of my left-leaning friends saying to me something about abortion or climate change that I completely disagreed with.

They assumed I agreed because, in their minds, they were right and anyone who disagreed was ignorant.

So people like me didn’t lie; we just didn’t tell the whole truth.

In Oregon, we were outnumbered.

The reaction to COVID is what brought many of us out of the closet.

We stopped playing the game because our lives and culture were being destroyed by the woke mindset.

I posted something about how the state, so desperate for money, is going to use seven million dollars to fund Planned Parenthood in Oregon.

Do the voters get a say?

Hell no.

And the left couldn’t care less because, as they see it, funding this organization is the right thing to do.

I saw all these comments about how this was “healthcare.”

I thought twice about adding an answer.

But not to say something felt like I was back under the control of that mentality again.

I’m sure the organization does some health care, but it also supports the killing of babies.

I wrote, “Since when is killing babies health care?”

That is my belief, just as they believe the opposite.

I believe there are circumstances when abortion is necessary, but it’s still taking a life, and we can’t forget that.

Shouldn’t we both be able to express our opinions without all the wrath, name-calling, and belittling?

(Watch the comment section for your answer)

I thought twice about putting this message together.

It’s easier to hide.

But we can no longer live like this.

Our silence diminishes the power of the truth.

You, on the left, must be able to express your opinions, but at the same time, those of us who bounce around on the left-to-right scale have the same right.

Back to COVID.

I despise what COVID did to many of my friends, but I have recently been thankful for what it’s shown me.

The reaction awakened a lion, not just in me, but in millions and millions of people.

We witnessed what happened when we went along.

And when we stood up, we saw what people were capable of.

We also learned, the truth is costly but brings peace.

Words can hurt, but being silent destroys.
