Could It Be A Chink In The Armor?

I wonder if people are starting to open up?
I wrote a blog about the changes in me.
It had over 70k views.
While most of the comments were from those who feel the same way, one in particular stands out for me.
I mentioned in the blog that people write me to ask “What happened to Rick Dancer?”
I edited a couple things out that might give away who wrote this since I did not seek permission to use it.
But read, not just what she said, but how she said it.
“Went to Dinner at the new Restaurant in Eugene, with a group of my colleagues. Out of the Blue, someone mentioned your name, and I listened as the table discussed you and folks were asking just that , 'What the hell happened?'. Its truly a 'Thing', Rick. Wish you and your Family continued blessings, and a healthy grandson. Our views are polar opposites, so I'm going to wish you well.”
Could this be a chink in the armor? I know that literally means a weakness but to me this is amazing strength. This comment says everything.
We can disagree.
But more than that we can do it by blessing one another and wishing our opponents well.
I don’t expect to see a huge turn around in our society after reading one comment like this but honestly it’s the first sign I’ve seen that maybe we can get along one day.
I think all of us are a bit nervous right now, at least I am, but I get that way when huge change is in process.
Everything may not work out the way we hope.
But when it’s over we’ll still be here together.
And at some point we’ll have to mend a fence and be neighbors again.
Maybe this writer is showing us how to start.
